The Crocodile Cafe first opened its doors in 1991 and quickly became a fixture in the Seattle music scene. Known for helping develop and showcase some of the finest talent over years (decades, really) The Croc established itself as THE place to play. Part of what made it such a great place to play was in large part thanks to Jim Anderson, sound guy extraordinaire. Jim was the official house sound guy for the club almost from the very beginning.

Dedicated to making sure the room had the best and most dialed in sound possible, Jim worked tirelessly night after night working to provide the best possible experience to whichever band crossed his stage.

In 1996, in collaboration with PopLlama Records, The Crocodile released the Bite Back compilation comprised of live recordings from bands such as Mudhoney, PUSA, The Minus 5, Citizens Utilities, Built to Spill, & so many more. This compilation sparked an idea that stayed with Jim over the years and finally around 2004, technology allowed Jim to put these ideas into plan… offer multi-track recordings of sets to the bands as they came through. Helping to capture the essence of a band and a sound that made it all so great.
